January 10th, 2022By Native Africa Trails
Is going on an African safari part of your bucket list? If so, then look no further. Our goal at Native Africa Trails is to offer you the adventure of a lifetime. Panning this adventure doesn’t have to be boring by any means.
However, there are some things that you should not dismiss. For example:
- Where do you want to go?
- When do you want to go?
- What do you need to pack?
All these questions need answers. And, luckily for you, we can help you do that. Here’s how you can plan your first African trip:
Where Do You Want to Go?
Traveling to Africa is not like going for a walk around the block. There are a lot of things you need to consider, like where you want to go in the first place. To do that, you need to learn more about your traveling options.
East Africa is filled with a lot of natural wonders. You can visit beautiful Tanzania, amazing Kenya, and so many other places.Don’t try to visit all these places at once. That might make the journey feel rushed, and not at all fulfilling.
For your first time, you can just pick one place to visit. Both Tanzania and Kenya can satisfy first-timers. If you are looking to be detached from your problem, Tanzania and Kenya might just be the place for you. The incredibly diverse wildlife and beautiful sceneries are something to behold.
When Do You Want to Go?
The time when you visit East Africa can factor greatly in your experience there. You want a chance to see the beautiful nature, as well as the wildlife.
Well, Africa is indeed filled with such wonders. But, that doesn’t mean that they can be seen at any time of every day there. You have to know when to do that.
Both Tanzania and Kenya have two main seasons:
- The dry season (June – October)
- The rainy season (November – May)
Traveling during the dry season can be fun, but keep in mind there are a lot of other people who visit Africa during those months. If you want some nice and quiet time, you might want to settle for a little later.
However, we wouldn’t recommend you visit in the middle of the rainy season either. Many of the days are filled with rainfall during that time.Going on the cusp of the rainy season might be the option for you. That’s when the dry season is ending, and the rainy season starts to take shape. You might enjoy both nature and wildlife during this season.
What Do You Need to Pack?
So, now that you know where to go, what do you need to pack for your safari adventure? Here’s a list of everything you need:
- A comfortable safari hat
- A couple of safari shirts
- A safari jacket
- More than one pair of safari trousers/shorts
- A safari duffel/holdall
- Safari socks
- Safari shoes
- A camera
- Insect repellent
Make sure that all these items are made out of great fabric that can endure the safari life, while also having you feel comfortable.
